| Universal Aid for Children strives to improve the quality of life of thousands of abandoned and displaced children in the Odessa region. Our focus is direct aid, sustained development and education for at-risk, Ukrainian orphans. Compassion, care and unconditional love are our quotients. In 1995, Universal Aid for Children was established to focus on sustained development, direct aid and education for Ukrainian orphans. The fall of the Soviet Union left the Ukrainian economy and it’s entire infrastructure in shambles. Social services to abandoned and displaced children were stripped to the core. Universal Aid for Children�s Odessa relief program currently serves 22 institutions in the Odessa region. We presently support over 2000 children. After finishing the 11th grade within these orphanages, the children remain abandoned by the state, their families, and their society. In 1998, Universal Aid for Children created The UAC Orphaned Teen Scholarship Program. It is the first of it’s kind in the Ukraine. UAC offers the chance at higher education or vocational training. Without our help, these people are at extremely high risk for alcoholism, drug addiction, prostitution, and homelessness.
