Brief description of organization mission and work:

RLSARF is a well-regarded non-profit organization, founded in 1999 by former Miami Dolphin player Twan Russell.  We are committed to fighting illiteracy among high-risk youth through its mission of “Opening Books to Open Doors.” RLSARF after-school and summer programs are multi-faceted and offer a holistic approach to addressing the problem of illiteracy.  Established in eight locations across Broward County and North Miami-Dade, we serve primarily minority, economically disadvantaged children.  The programs are offered free of charge to area residents.

Our mission is to eradicate illiteracy among inner city youth, thereby empowering, inspiring and encouraging at-risk youth to become successful and productive citizens.

• Bookbags & School Supplies - 400 to be distributed at Health Fair on July 24.
• Christmas Toys - Ages 5-14 for Christmas Program in December
• Prizes/Incentives - throughout the year teachers like to give incentives for good performance, grades, etc. 
• Guest Speakers - We are currently reaching out to the community for speakers to visit our children and share their story of success with them.
