The Million Meals Committee was founded by The Coordinating Council of Broward in 2001. In 2004, the Children's Services Council of Broward County provided funding to support committee staff and activities. The Million Meals Committee is a collaboration of individuals, and public and private agencies working on a united front to:
Million Meals Committee membership includes representatives from the Cooperative Feeding Program, the Coordinating Council of Broward, the Children’s Services Council, Broward County Health Department, Department of Children and Families, the US. Department of Agriculture, Social Security Administration, hospitals, schools, and other committed for profit and not for profit Faith and Community Based organizations. The Million Meals Committee meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month to s pearhead projects such as a year–round food drive program, special food collecting events and advocacy to raise community awareness about the hunger problem not only in Broward County but also throughout all of South Florida. | The Million Meals Committee assists area agencies and organizations in coordinating and managing month-long food drives. You can also help the Million Meals Committee by registering for the Souper Bowl of Caring which is a grassroots movement of caring, the result of thousands of young people joining together to fight hunger and poverty in their communities. You are invited to team up with the Souperbowl of Caring, Miami Dolphins to transform the weekend of the big game into the nation’s largest day of giving and serving. You can do this by accessing www.souperbowl.org and designating the Million Meals Committee as your charity of choice, than collect canned goods on Super Bowl Sunday.
