| Love Thy Neighbor strives to recycle and preserve the integrity of our most precious natural resource: human beings. Love Thy Neighbor’s Culinary Skill’s Training Program trains homeless men and women to become certified chefs, getting them off the street and back into mainstream society. The dignity of work and the caring, supporting network from Love Thy Neighbor staff and volunteers has helped 186 formerly homeless women and men back from the brink. They are working, paying taxes and now helping others! The intensive 9 week course, run in conjunction with the McFatter Institute, costs the agency approximately $ 1,000 per homeless participant and is held at Providence Place. Each Wednesday evening, the “chef’s in training” provide dinner for the homeless on Ft. Lauderdale beach. Brunch is provided each Sunday morning. With the leadership of Arnold Abbott, Love Thy Neighbor’s founder, the former homeless reach out to those still in need in our community. | Please help us collect 1,000 blankets we can distribute to the homeless as the cold season approaches. We are also desperate for No. 10 (7lb) cans of food: fruits, vegetables, meats to prepare the meals for the homeless. Love Thy Neighbor needs your support! We always need volunteers each Sunday morning from 10:30am-1pm and each Wednesday 5pm-7pm, rain or shine! Volunteers will help serve meals to the homeless plus provide friendship and fellowship to the marginalized in our community. |
