| The Humane Society of Broward County is a private, non-profit organization supported by donations from people and companies in our community who want to make a difference for the homeless animals in our community. Last year we found homes for more than 9,500 pets and educated more than 200,000 adults and children through our Humane Education programs. More than 500 volunteers assist in all areas, including animal care, adoptions, pet therapy, education presentations, foster care and events. In addition to adoptions, the shelter provides low cost spay/neuter services, cruelty investigations, pet loss and grieving counseling, a pet behavior help line and low cost dog obedience classes. | We are always in need of canned food for the dogs and cats. We have a feeding partnership with Purina and they provide all the dry food that we need, however baby puppies and kittens need canned food. Other items always needed are: paper towels, cat and dog toys (especially plastic or hard rubber so they can be disinfected), white towels and classical or soothing music CDs. Of course we can always use more volunteers, especially for foster care. |
