Founded in 1989, 100 Black Men of South Florida, is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation comprised of men in business, industry, public affairs, government and other professions who volunteer their time to improve the quality of life for African-Americans and other minorities.

The Leadership Academy endeavors to transform the motivation of participating young African-American males from interests and skills that de-emphasize education and lead to negative social or criminal behavior into a motivation that promotes the development of a well-rounded, positive, success-oriented individual. Also, the program provides the following:

Mentors such that the problems experienced by youth that are growing up without a responsible father or mother present are reduced or at-least manageable
Education that will encourage young black men to become responsible citizens
Some of the positive experiences that encourage youth to want to further their education
